CX20 2D Panel CTD

Post by joreillyf15 » Thu Mar 22, 2018 12:33 pm

Good day to you all,

I have a pretty unique problem and I have pretty much exhausted my knowledge on what to do. Without fail, everytime I switch from the 3D Virtual Cockpit view to the 2D view showing only the instrument panel, FSX Crashes. There is no pop-up from windows saying "FSX has stopped working", the sim just exits. The crash doesn't even register on Windows event viewer anymore (It did a few times, and pointed the faulting modules as d3d10.dll, ESDG_CitationX.gau, GrooveIntlResource.dll, and F1TForeFlightFSX.dll). However, if I stay in the virtual cockpit and I turn on the battery and Avionics, the EICAS does not turn on. This started happening after I installed the Flight1 Foreflight Plugin. So, I uninstalled the plguin, problem persists. Reinstall Citation, no avail. I then removed all the DLLs and folders associated with the plugin that I installed and cleared the DLL.XML, and then reinstalled the Citation, but it still keeps happening. I guarantee it is not caused by any of my other addons because it started happening specifically after I installed the Flight1 Plugin. Any help would be appreciated!

Software/Hardware:
FSX Steam
Windows 10 64 bit
AMD A8-6600K 3.9 GHZ Processor
GTX750

1. Ensure there is a hypergauge.dll in the Modules folder.
2. Post the content of your DLL.XML file here.

HyperGauge.dll is present, DLL.XML:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>FSUIPC 4</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>CMeteoXml</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>.\CMeteoXml.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Carenavigraph</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>.\Carenavigraph.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Mindstar Hypergauge</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>Modules\HyperGauge.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

Your DLL.XML is completely hosed... I wouldn't know what addon did that to it... but.. here's a corrected one:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
	<Descr>Launch</Descr>
	<Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
	<Disabled>False</Disabled>
	<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
	<Launch.Addon>
		<Name>FSUIPC 4</Name>
		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
		<Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path>
	</Launch.Addon>
	<Launch.Addon>
		<Name>CMeteoXml</Name>
		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
		<Path>.\CMeteoXml.dll</Path>
	</Launch.Addon>
	<Launch.Addon>
		<Name>Carenavigraph</Name>
		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
		<Path>.\Carenavigraph.dll</Path>
	</Launch.Addon>
	<Launch.Addon>
		<Name>Mindstar Hypergauge</Name>
		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
		<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
		<Path>Modules\HyperGauge.dll</Path>
	</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
Replace the content of your current DLL.XML with the above replacement lines.

Well I think my problem may be related to this.

I am using the FSX boxed version with a new I7 Overclocked to 5 GHZ with 32Gig ram Windows 10 64 bit
I am also using three monitors is Nvidia surround with a resolution of 5780 x 1080 SLI 1080TI graphics cards

When I load the Citation X and switch to 2d cockpit the bottom 2d cockpit disappears and the cursor changes to a straight loading icon. I can switch view back and forth but the loading cursor never changes. Usually, the problems happen when I'm full screen, not so much when windowed on one screen.

I tried loading into a 3d cockpit in windowed mode and shrinking the 2d popup panels down and that works sometimes for a bit, but its hit and miss.

I read what you put here, but I dont know what program to open that dll file, if I use it in notepad it looks like a program. If you can be more specific on how to replace the hypergauges.dll with the text above I can sure try if you think that's what it is.

Thanks so much in advance!

carnstan,

You should not be touching the file named HyperGauge.dll. Just don't. No one has been told to touch that file. It is a program extension library used by the sim.

The only editing was in the file named DLL.XML which may or may not need editing. An error in the DLL.XML does not typically cause a CTD. The 2D panel is not designed to work at the resolution you're wanting to use it. It is only designed for a typical single monitor width such as 1680x1050 or 1920x1080. I am confused by your statement "the bottom 2d cockpit disappears". There is only a single 2d panel and it's an "all or nothing" panel.

ok, Roger That

When I choose 2 d view it is like the top third is the terrain window and the bottom 2/3 is the glass cockpit. The glass cockpit disappears and the top third that is the outside view windows stays but the cursor just rotates. I have got it to work several times at that resolution by readjusting the panels. But I thought there may be a secret to sizing the panels to work every time.

Thanks so much

You have something about your system setup that is not working well with the aircraft.

I will repeat that the 2D panel is NOT intended for the large screen resolution you're trying to use it on. To be honest, I can't really do much more for you because absolutely everything I would need to check is on your system and I'm not in front of it.
