New DA-42 Gen VI?

Post by snave » Sat Mar 24, 2018 6:33 am

Seems we have a plethora of early marks of the DA-42, including the previous Eaglesoft.

Is the Gen 4 version likely to be the DA-42-VI ?

We can't be having any more of that Thielert rubbish!

And almost every DA-42 I've seen in the past year has a G1000NXi !

We'll look into the new one but we like the old one a lot.

Not sure anyone else does.

...Not since Diamond offered a trade-in for an Austro in place of a Thielert :)

And if the plan is to tart up the old DA-42 and punt it out to the masses, Care-not-o has you licked.

Better to do the job properly - I can see it being used for familiarisation training as well as by simmers...

We don't care what other dev houses do as you are well aware, or should be. We understand the sentiment but really have our eye on a number of projects which are of higher interest for us.

So this will be a portover of the current model?

He hasn't stated that at all. In fact, he hasn't made any statements about what it will be. Just that there will be one.

Well we have, in that our DA42 Twinstar is a candidate for the Generation Three and Generation Four Catalogs on the General Aviation side of the equation.
The new 3D Studio Max visual model is currently in the hands of our our own Ozzy Hatterman and promises to be the basis for production of a lineup of new and exciting Generation Three and Generation Four Extreme General Aviation projects.

Note: None of these projects are so called "portovers" but new product offerings at new pricepoints and new features lists. ;)
Note: We receive requests for such project paths on what seems a regular basis and often includes revision requests such as "Vi"

Our primary focus is the Extreme Corporate Aviation lineup and the Extreme General Aviation lineup will remain a secondary focus... ;)

Thanks Ron, you `got` what I was asking about.

The G1000Nxi would keep the DA42 in alignment with several other of the Gen 4 models, as well as representing the current production model. Diamond now offer a simulator for the DA42-VI and it's a pricey conversion for pilots brought up on the earlier engines and electronics. Most of the conversion time is on the the Garmin...

...You can see where I am going with this: The earlier version, with the Mindstar was close enough to save several hours of sitting in the real aircraft, at real aircraft prices. Garmin now offer a desktop simulator for the same reason.

NG4 as a DA42-VI would fit better into that environment! Even if Not To Be Used As a Training Tool ;)

Thanks, while we do indeed "get it" we are not yet committed to a VI path. We have a plethora of suggested and wish list type communications and for now the Theilart powered DA42 Twin Star is a G3 and G4 candidate. As an illustration we've had interest for a DA62 as well...
