Citation X atidxx32.dll crash

Post by adrzewiecki » Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:01 am

Good morning,
I seem to be having a problem with the Citation X V2 for FSX Boxed SP 1 and 2 - Windows 10. When I load the Citation X, it appears to load fine. However, as soon as I click on any part of the citation (knobs, switches, etc.) the sim immediately freezes, then crashes a few seconds later. Here is the Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e17d3
Faulting module name: atidxx32.dll_unloaded, version: 23.20.806.256, time stamp: 0x5a29901d
Exception code: 0xc000041d
Fault offset: 0x005b33b0
Faulting process id: 0x13b8
Faulting application start time: 0x01d5b0403fc24a06
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
Faulting module path: atidxx32.dll
Report Id: a6c8fb52-7f34-43d7-ae83-889b5504e087
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

It says that the Faulting module path is atidxx32.dll. I went into the Registry Editor under Computer/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/AppCompatFlags/Layers, and saw that under the registry for FSX.exe, it has under "Value Data," it contains $ IgnoreFreeLibrary<atidxx32.dll>. I deleted the value, and tried loading the Citation X again. Once again, it crashed upon me clicking on any section in the cockpit. I went back to the Registry Editor and found that the "$IgnoreFreeLibrary<atidxx32.dll> had returned. I tried deleting it again, but the Citation X kept doing the same time - every time I would load the Citation X, it would crash upon me simply clicking on anything, and would put the "IgnoreFreeLibrary..." value back in to the Registry Editor despite me deleting it prior.

Any ideas?

First thing I can offer... the X doesn't use that DLL. It is my understanding that the DLL is part of the OS driver support for ATI video cards.

Second thing I can offer... it sounds like your install didn't go well. Missing audio files. The entire installation process must be run as admin, especially with Windows 10.

I am not sure what exactly did it, but I deleted the <IgnoreFreeLibrary...> value again and it seemed to work. I didn't do a whole flight, but I managed to get the avionics on without issue.

Thanks for the help!
